1. What is TNTET?

The Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) is conducted by the Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) to assess the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions for Classes I–V (Paper I) and VI–VIII (Paper II) in schools across Tamil Nadu. Successful candidates earn a TNTET certificate—valid for lifetime—making it a crucial step toward securing teaching roles.

2. TNTET 2025 Notification & Key Dates

The TNTET 2025 notification was officially released on 11 August 2025 on the TRB website. Here’s the schedule to help you plan:

  • Notification released and applications open: 11 August 2025

  • Last date to apply: 8 September 2025

  • Application correction window: 9–11 September 2025

  • Exam dates: @ Paper I on 1 November 2025, Paper II on 2 November 2025

3. Eligibility Criteria

TNTET eligibility differs for each paper:

Paper I (Classes I–V)

  • HS (+2) with ≥50% + D.El.Ed / B.El.Ed (or as per NCTE norms)

  • HS with ≥45% + D.El.Ed (NCTE recognized)

Paper II (Classes VI–VIII)

  • Graduation with ≥50% + B.Ed or equivalent

  • HS with ≥50% + B.El.Ed or B.A Ed / B.Sc Ed

Age limit: Minimum 18 years as of 1 July 2025; no upper age limit.

4. Application Process

  1. Visit TRB TN official site.

  2. Download and read the notification PDF.

  3. Register and log in to apply.

  4. Fill information, upload photo/signature, pay fee.

  5. General/OBC: ₹600; SC/ST/PWD: ₹300.

  6. Submit application and download confirmation page.

5. Exam Pattern & Syllabus

Each paper has 150 objective-type questions, with a total of 150 marks. No negative marking.

Paper I (1–5)

  • Child Development & Pedagogy – 30

  • Language I – 30 (Tamil/other)

  • Language II – 30 (English)

  • Math – 30

  • Environmental Studies – 30

Paper II (6–8)

  • Child Development & Pedagogy – 30

  • Language I – 30

6. Qualifying Marks

7. Result & Scorecard

Results are accessible via TRB Results page. Log in using your credentials to view and download your scorecard, which includes subject-wise marks, total score, and passing status.

Typical processing takes 4–6 weeks after examination.

Once qualified, your TNTET certificate (issued separately) grants teaching eligibility across Tamil Nadu.

8. What Comes After TNTET?

  • Qualifying TNTET is your eligibility to apply for teaching posts via TNRTE or TRB recruitment exams.
